Your support helps transform lives.
Root’s 12-week, 200-hour program of direct kitchen and classroom training provides students with technical and experiential education in the culinary arts. Equally important, Root’s program emphasizes five critical skills employers expect and which correlate with continued success: social and cognitive skills, self-agency, communication, and confidence.

Host an Event
All profits from Root’s HarborPoint event space go back into our Youth Job Training Program.
During the Root program, youth are provided with opportunities to test out their workforce skills in a supportive environment. One of the ways that we do this is through mock interviews. Towards the end of each cohort we schedule a day where youth dress for success and meet one-on-one with a volunteer who will conduct a mock interview with them.
Part of preparing young people for success in the workforce is exposing them to different exposing them to different styles of instruction, cuisines, and paths they can take in their career. This is why we are looking for chefs of all kinds to come in and share their passion and expertise with our youth.
Resume & Job Search
Each cohort we recruit volunteers to guide our young people in resume creation and their transition out of Root and into the workforce.
Delivery of Root food to local pantries/shelters, and to our local merchants (Cabot Theater, etc.)
