Root is grateful for the tremendous network of chefs that support our mission and programs and partner with us for the Celebrity Chef series. These dinners are a delicious way to support Root’s programs and provide an opportunity for alumni to work alongside some of the most noted chefs on the North Shore. This summer, we were thrilled to continue the series with a pop-up dinner at Bernadette in Salem, MA, with Chef Aaron Chambers, to raise funds for Root’s Community Catering program.

The evening also featured Jason Weisman of Lucky Lips Oysters, who was shucking oysters harvested from his family's farm in Loagy Bay, Wellfleet. Jason shared the story of Lucky Lips and the dedication that goes into oyster farming - from working the tides to carefully cultivating oysters that reflect the unique character of Cape Cod's waters - a rare opportunity for guests to meet the farmer behind one of New England's exceptional oyster farms and experience that connection firsthand.

Did you know? Each week, Root’s alumni kitchen team prepares 800+ fresh, from-scratch meals for neighbors facing food insecurity. Demand continues to grow, and we need your support to continue to meet this urgent need. Additional donations to support Root's Community Catering Initiative are welcomed and encouraged.
